Summer Vacation Is coming Soon

     I can't believe that summer vacation is coming!!!! It seems was yesterday that I started the new semester and began to write blogs. Time flies, I have to prepare three exams next week. Two of the three subjects take me a lot of time to study. They are accounting and economics. Both of the books are written in English. As a result, I not only have to translate those English knowledge into Chinese in my mind but also remember all the detail, definition and different calculation methods. However, I don't see those subjects as nightmare. On the contrary, I like them a lot because I think they are much easier than other subjects since half of the test is multiple choice. Luckily, I have already finished all my final reports. Now I have to go back to study accounting. I hope I can get high score in all my tests.

Desserts

     These days, I made two different dessert all by my own. The one is panna cotta, the other one is banana chocolate cake. Last Thursday, I went to a Italian restaurant which its cuisine is perfect but I wasn't satisfied with its dessert, panna cotta. I thought it didn't have enough taste of milk and the texture wasn't the one I prefer. As a result, I made my version of panna cotta. The steps of making panna cotta are easy. Hence, I just left the pot on the stove and went to use my computer in my room. I though I was able to go back to kitchen before the combination of milk and cream wouldn't boil that quick. However, when I stepped into the kitchen, I was shocked by what I saw. The milk and cream was not only boiled, but also spread all over the stove. I was so nervous about the texture of panna cotta. Thankfully, when I ate eat on the next day. It was still my favorite flavor of panna cotta.
     Since I was free, I made banana chocolate cake after I ate my breakfast today. I really like the combination of chocolate and banana. In order not to let the cake become too sweet, I change the recipe I searched on the Internet. I put more dark chocolate and skip the part of sugar. I think it was one of the easiest cake. All I need was put all the ingredients into a large bowl and stirred them until they were well combined. After the cake was baked, I cut a piece of it immediately and ate it. It was so tasty. The top of the cake was crispy, the texture was moist because of the banana and the flavor of chocolate was rich.
     The happiest thing isn't that I eat those delicious desserts. It is that I made them all by myself unlike before that my mom made the desserts with me. I am going to what to make next!

My Brother

     I went to see my brother's classical guitar performance yesterday. It was a great night and I enjoyed his performance. On the stage, my little brother was sitting on a chair with his classical guitar. As usual, his hair is messy and his shoes are old and dirty even though he has three new pairs of shoes in the shoes cabinet. His performance was so great and he was enamored of the music of his playing. It was quite a shocking moment that my little brother who likes to tease me became mature in one night. Although he is kind of immature during the time except for his performance yesterday, he is a brilliant student and the leader of classical guitar club. He gives me a lot of pressure because he is always more outstanding than me in any aspect. Of course, I am jealous of his talents such as music, painting and even good at dealing with 3C products. However, I am still proud of him because he is my only brother and part of my family. All I want to say is that though my little brother is not as cute as he was when he was a child, I still love you and I will support him forever.

Happy Day

     Due to the celebration of the university's 60th anniversary, I have two days off. I am so happy that I don't need to spend more than an hour going to school. In order to celebrate these two days off, I plunged myself in movies and TV series. As usual I watched the latest episode of Grey's Anatomy. It is such a pity that one of my favorite actress who acts a talented cardiac surgeon won't act in the play in the next season. I can't imagine Meredith Grey lives a life without Christina Yang!!!! Additionally, after finishing my French class, I watched the movie, Cold War, a Hong Kong movie which starred by numerous famous Hong Kong actors. It is a exciting and breathtaking movie. I was so nervous at the beginning because the plot was suspenseful. However, I think the end is way too simple which is opposite to my expectation of a complicated ending. And now, I an watching another Kong Kong movie, Blind Detective. I hope it will be interesting, too. 

Happy Mother's Day

     The second week of May is Mother's Day. The day we can treat our mom as a queen and thank her for all she has done for the family. Mom has always been the busiest one in our family. She not only has to do a lot of house work but also wakes my brother and me up every day. Even though she spare no effort to let us live the most comfortable life, she never treats her well. For example, my brother and I can buy lots of new clothes when Chinese New Year is coming. However, she hasn't buy any new clothes for many years. Moreover, she really want to own a smartphone, nevertheless, she thinks smartphones are too expensive hence she never put her wish into action. Yesterday, my dad finally bought a smartphone for my mom. It was really funny to see my mom struggling between "do not waste too much money" and "I have always want to have a smartphone".

Akeelah and the Bee(2)

1.  Summarize the movie starting at Javier's birthday party until the end. 
     Javier is a sweet and kind child. He somehow gives Akeelah courage during the competition. In his birthday party, Akeelah almost beat her rival, Dylan, which makes Dylan's dad very angry. After she won third place of distrct bee, it seems that her world has totally changed.She became popular in her school, reporters interviewed her. Sadly, behind those people who suddenly like her, Akeelah gradually became alienated with her best friend. Moreover, Dr. Larabee stop coaching her. Those upset things make her feel stressful and even want to quit the competition. Fortunately, after her mom told Akeelah her own experience, she stood up in the setback. During the period before the national bee, all the 50,000 resident became her coach. Since then, Akeelah become more cheerful because all her neighbors not only help her but also encourage her. Of course, eventually, Akeelah win first place in national bee. 

2.  Consider your own opinions or ideas about the movie in the second half.  This part is more of a reflection on the ideas presented in the movie rather than a summary.
     The film's outcome is in my expectation that Akeelah will win first place in national bee eventually. The plot in the movie I like the most is the period she prepare for the national bee. At that time, everyone in the area she lives support her and help her remember those 5,000 vocabularies. It is very touching that a little girl in the area be qualified in a competition that no one have ever had before. The glory makes the area have social cohesion and all be proud of Akeelah.

1.  Summarize the movie so far in your own words. 

     Akeelah is a girl who seldom go to school because she feels isolated in the class. However, she gets 100 points in the vocabulary test. It is because that she likes to play spelling games when she in her leisure time.  As a result, her teacher suggests she participate in the spelling bee. At first, she refused because she think her classmate will laugh at her. Nevertheless, she participated and won first place. After that, she has to find the professor to be her coach to help her win the region's spelling bee. However, they had a fight. Luckily, she still get the qualification to go to Washington,DC. In order to win the championship in Washington, DC, she go to ask the professor for help again. 
2.  What are some observations that you notice in the movie so far?

      Akeelah is a smart girl who can remember lots of words which I think is quite difficult for me. However, due to the region she lives and the interaction between classmates, she is afraid of standing on the stage and be a competitor of the spelling bee. Nevertheless, she has a nice brother who encourages her to do that. As a result, she participated in the spelling bee. Moreover, I think she will be the champion in Washington, DC.
